Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Addiction, trauma and other mental health issues are strongly impacted by the way one manages their thoughts and feelings. CBT is designed to engage clients in the process of becoming conscious and aware of their thought patterns. Often times those suffering with addiction, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and other mental health conditions do not realize the impact of their thoughts in relation to their behavior.
With CBT, the goal is to gain insight into one’s thoughts. It is believed that thoughts become actions. By noticing and learning to consciously shift the focus of destructive thinking, clients begin to elicit executive functioning and critical thinking. Safe Harbor utilizes CBT in both individual and group settings.
